Canadian pork farmers once again eye potential ‘billion dollar market’ as China lifts import ban

China resumed imports of Canadian pork and beef in November following a four-month suspension. China has lost just over half of its own herd because of African Swine Fever, its inventory is depleted and it’s not coming back, said Senior Animal Protein Analyst Christine McCracken. That may be why China has chosen to resume trade with Canada, she says.
